Previously a high level manager within the Australian Federal Police, a Prison Officer with the notorious Long Bay Prison's Riot and Emergency Response Squad in Sydney and Border Protection Specialist for the Australian Customs Service, Steve Rutherford's background has been as diverse as the images he captures.
There is no doubt that any person with this past has seen both the best and the worst that humanity can be. Steve Rutherford uses this experience when adding his own unique perspective to the world. Such a perspective can expose the story of a single floating leaf on a tropical island paradise, or the grandeur of midnight in New York.
