Workshop Overview

On this workshop, we explore one of Australia's premier landscape photography locations, Tropical North Queensland. Home to the world-famous Great Barrier Reef, dramatic coastal scenery and lush tropical rainforest and waterfalls, not to mention an abundance of wildlife, you'll photograph in the early morning and late afternoon to capture the best light. The rest of the time Steve Rutherford will personally show you his techniques for producing professional landscape photography images.

Workshop Detail

Many of our clients either know little about photography and want to learn more, or they know something about photography and want to take it to the next level. If this is you, then this workshop is PERFECT for you. In the field and through cleverly designed indoor and outdoor discussions, Steve will step you through a vast array of photographic techniques. The beauty of this workshop is that you will have opportunities to photograph some of the most spectacular locations in Australia - Palm Cove Beach, Port Douglas' majestic 4 Mile Beach and multi million dollar Marina, Mossman Gorge, Upolu Cay and the Great Barrier Reef, from on the water and above it, and of course the magnificent tropical Queensland coastline - which are all at our doorstep.

For those participants who want to learn more of the technical aspects of photography, Steve will take time out during various parts of the day to teach you all the techniques you'll need to have, for your images to look like the professionals!

At the end of each day, we'll take advantage of the digital capture process to review your images and Steve will individually offer his suggestions for improvement. We will also explore the digital workflow used by many professionals to prepare their images for exhibition printing or award nomination. We will use Photoshop and Lightroom 2.0, as well as some other somewhat unknown gems of software, and quite extensively as well!

What To Expect:

After we get to know each other briefly, we'll go straight into techniques applicable for the areas we'll be visiting. Then just after morning tea, we'll travel to the first of our locations to begin our hands on work in the field.
